Exquisite portrait of a sadly unidentified dancer, and with no photographer attribution either (if we were to guess, we would think this was perhaps taken by Paul Boyer). Please do zoom in on this image for detail! To begin with, she is a remarkably beautiful woman, with dark, dark eyes, and dark hair. She is posed in front of a really lovely trompe l'oeil (the importance of which should not be minimized), wearing a lace mantilla on the back of her head, to show her hair off to its best advantage, and draped over her right shoulder. Her skirt appears to be made of an almost pleated silk with a fringe of little pointed danglies, while worn so close as to make it seem almost the top to her outfit, is a very large (probably also woven of silk), Manila shawl, with a striped pattern, minus the more common birds or flowers. On her breast is pinned a crescent moon, and on her feet, a pair of very fine, tight laced, high heeled boots of thin, light toned leather. Get as close as you like. The clarity of detail in this print is marvelous! Yes, we really do love this one very much! :) Minor wear to edges and corners, and a tiny discoloration beside the toe of her right boot.
Please examine our high res scans for detail.
