Magnificent portrait, taken by Reutlinger of Paris, of Mlle. Cora Laparcerie (1875-1951), wearing a gorgeous, Art Nouveau, headdress.

Mlle. Laparcerie was an important contributor to French theater and culture of the early 1900s. Born Marie-Caroline Laparcerie, she was discovered by the famous French actor Coquelin, and in 1896, began her acting career at the Odeon theater. She was very successful, touring internationally, and in 1901, married poet Jacques Richepin. She was also the Director at a number of Parisian theaters, including theTheatre des Bouffes-Parisiens, the Renaissance, and the Scala. In 1926, she was awarded the Legion of Honor, and in 1927, fell seriously ill, which impacted her career, but she continued involvement in theater, even in radio theater in the 1930s.

Wonderful image by Leopold Reutlinger, that is so highly prized among collectors of the genre, it causes Mlle. Laparcerie to be, among her many other accomplishments, practically a poster girl of la Belle Epoque :)
