Great pre-war image of the Wiener Riesenrad, the giant Ferris wheel that plays a small, but pivotal (sorry about that :), role in the wonderful 1949 Carol Reed thriller, "The Third Man."
If you remember the Ferris wheel from the film ( I mean you'd REALLY have to remember it well), you might notice that there are considerably more gondolas present on the wheel in this image. That's because during WWII, the wheel was damaged, and when reconstructed, only 15 of the original 30 gondolas were reattached.
