Wonderful Mignon image. What a precious model is cast here as the tragical Gypsy girl...well, there's a lot more to the story, but you'll get no spoilers here :)
We think the question is not so much "How many dramatic images of Gypsy girls and young Romany women appearing on postcards in the early 1900s were inspired by that oh so popular opera?" as rather, "How many were not?"
From the German libretto, the text, "Unsere zukunft steht bei Gott er bestimmt die zeit." translates roughly as "Our future is in the hands of God."
