We really love this image. It's so dreamlike, the young woman with her otherworldly expression almost fading into the subtle trompe l'oeil behind her. What a great pose. Her grass skirt is less a skirt and practically more of a dress, with fibers worked in a pattern into its bodice that she clutches against herself.
Her name may have been Helen Peterson (the name written in ink on the card's back side). Almost everything about the feel of this RPPC (to say nothing of the subject's blonde ringlets) dates it to circa 1910 or earlier for us. Well, according to playle.com, a helpful online resource of postcard collector information, the triangle code on the AZO stamp box (see scan) would suggest that our card's paper was produced sometime between 1910 and 1930, 1910 at the earliest, so we appear to be on the wrong side of history on this one. :)

AZO was a photo print paper produced by Kodak, and one of the most commonly used for RPPCs in the USA.
Our card was loved just a bit too much and it looks as if a child made some ink marks on the surface. They're barely visible in a face to face, but our scans show them off nicely, sigh. Still we had to have this card for the shop. Hope you love it too.
Please examine our high res scans for detail.
