Belgian RPPC of Vaudeville Baby-Doll Act, circa 1920s by redpoulaine

The "Baby-doll" act was a common and popular feature in theatrical sketch comedy during the vaudeville days. Though we can't think of any such routines in the present day (and certainly cannot claim to have a finger on the pulse of modern entertainment, anyway), it does put us in mind of the character "Edith Ann" portrayed in sketches by the great talent Lily Tomlin, on the short-lived vaudevillesque television program of the late 1960s, "Laugh In."

Wonderful pose and costume. Great doll, too! :) A short run RPPC by a local Belgian photographer, apparently of Miss Ninon Dolnay, of whom we find scant mention online, snippets regarding a few productions, but nothing to let us know, really, anything about the show, her part, history, etc. In short, Miss Dolnay was probably a player who never quite made the big time, but the image is a lot of fun, and as with so many of these wonderful old RPPCs, may well be the only one of its kind still in existence!

This is possibly autographed by Miss Dolnay, but since the name appears on the backside with no further text, and is followed by a period, we very much doubt it. Nice unposted condition.

Please examine our high res scans for detail.

The item you are considering for purchase is, unless otherwise noted, a vintage postcard of approximately 5 and 1/2, by 3 and 1/2 inches. Postage is for fully insured, first class, shipping in a secure photo mailer (to avoid any damage to your purchase in the mails), and we happily combine shipping on all paper goods. If you purchase two cards, we will refund the postage on the second card, and when you purchase three or more cards from us at the same time, your shipping will be entirely free, except for international orders which, because of increases in international shipping rates will still be charged one card's shipping fees on orders of three or more. We do not charge for insurance or shipping materials, and as of the date of this listing are still charging below our overall cost on shipping.
