Fun group image (likely a promotional RPPC) of an unidentified song and dance sextette in bathing beauty attire, published by the Hana Studios of London. Be sure and see the back of this card with its wonderful Art Nouveau decoration! Our fourth listing image is of a close crop of another of Hana Studio's postcard back decorations (Not for sale...not even our card!). This sextette were probably quite well known and popular at the time to be photographed by Mr. Hana, and some of them look very familiar to us but we can't help with identification.

George Henry Hana (1868-1938) was a photographer specializing in theatrical portraits who became one of the biggest studio photographers in London. Like Mssrs. Reutlinger or Walery in Paris, In London, he was the one you wanted to do your portrait if you were on the stage. Below is a link to a short but very informative biography at a great site, historiccamera.com, if you're interested.

Like many photographers of his time, Mr. Hana was also an inventor by necessity. Below is a link to a Google books extract of an article in the British Journal of photography with some details on a small, hand-operated postcard printer that was developed by Mr. Hana. Lots of accompanying illustrations for those of you interested in the process of early photo image postcard printing.

A nice card but unevenly trimmed. Please examine our high res scans for detail.

The item you are considering for purchase is, unless otherwise noted, a vintage postcard of approximately 5 and 1/2, by 3 and 1/2 inches. Postage is for fully insured, first class, shipping in a secure photo mailer (to avoid any damage to your purchase in the mails), and we happily combine shipping on all paper goods. If you purchase two cards, we will refund the postage on the second card, and when you purchase three or more cards from us at the same time, your shipping will be entirely free, except for international orders which, because of increases in international shipping rates will still be charged one card's shipping fees on orders of three or more.
