French Bakery and Chocolate Shop, Rare RPPC circa 1910s by redpoulaine

Beautiful RPPC. Dating this one poses a couple of questions. Though most of the people in the image are dressed conservatively after the fashion of the 1910s, the young man driving the croissant delivery-cycle appears to be wearing a fedora, a hat usually associated with the 1920s through 40s. We're less confident in our guessing this image dates to the 1910s than we'd like to be, but the fedora was born, after all, in the play "Fedora," first produced in 1892 and starring Mme. Sarah (the divine) Bernhardt as the Princess Fedora. For the role, in which she played a cross-dresser, she wore a soft felt hat with a pinched brim. So, the fedora was born! First popular among women (particularly suffragettes), and later, among men (first in France, where the play was first performed, and later in America, where the fedora caught on by the 1920s).
So given that the fedora had been around for 20 years in France by the 1910s, we'll stick with our guess :)

It would seem this young man delivered croissants fresh from the bakery ovens! (stomach growling :)
This business baked bread in the French fashion, and also of the foreign variety (see window). Gourmet chocolate, too! Oh my. Is there a better way to begin a lazy morning than with coffee, bread and chocolate?

An original, probably one-of-a-kind photographic image, more rare, in and of itself, than most diamonds, and at a fraction of the cost! Think of this wonderful piece of history blown up on a bakery's or coffee house's wall, or as a precious gift for someone who loves their bread and chocolate!

Please examine our high res scans for detail.
