Natalina Cavalieri, Belle Epoque Opera Diva as Pierrette, Posted 1915 by redpoulaine

Unidentified image of Italian opera diva La Cavalieri in an absolutely stunning Pierrette costume. Often called the most beautiful woman in the world, it was said that the worst thing that could happen to the cast of a show on opening night was if Signorina Cavalieri happened to be a member of the audience...the problem was that the attention of the audience would be so hypnotically transfixed by that beautiful woman, that they would hardly glance at the stage :)

We've never come across this image before. To be fair, we should say this means next to nothing. We've been doing this for years, but we could see three of these tomorrow, you just never know. Still, from our limited point of view, a rare Cavalieri image.

This card was posted in Germany, in 1915, amidst the turmoil of World War One. It is very safe to say that this card, therefore, was published some years before, and only put to use in '15, particularly since Cavalieri had retired from the stage a few years prior to that point.

There is some wear on this one at the edges and corners, some foxing as well, but it will be a feather in the cap of any collection of Cavalieri images.
Please examine our high res scans for detail.

The item you are considering for purchase is, unless otherwise noted, a vintage postcard of approximately 5 and 1/2, by 3 and 1/2 inches. Postage is for fully-insured, first class shipping in a secure photo mailer (to avoid any damage to your purchase in the mails), and we happily combine shipping on all paper goods. If you purchase two cards, we will not charge for postage on the second card, and when you purchase three or more cards from us at the same time, your shipping will be entirely free, except for international orders which, because of increases in international shipping rates will still be charged one card's shipping fees on orders of three or more. We do not charge for insurance or shipping materials, and as of the date of this listing are still charging below our overall cost on shipping.
