Our first listing image for this card is of the stamp on the back! Rather a turnaround (literally) from our usual approach :)
This postage stamp was designed by Alphonse Mucha in 1918 for the newborn nation of Czechoslovakia (his homeland) immediately following the end of WWI, when the country declared its independance from the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Mucha as you may know was, and today probably is, one of the very best known artists within the Art Nouveau movement.
So fitting then that he designed this work of art with its gorgeous lines, that would be, a million times, put to practical use, since much of the idea behind Art Nouveau was to imbue the useful, the practical, even the industrial, with beauty.
The front of the card offers us a very nice Pierrot image. Honestly, the quality of the paper and consequently the print of the photo are not that great, but taken as a whole, this card gave us such a taste of that remarkable era that we wanted to share it with you.
Please examine our high res scans for detail.
The item you are considering for purchase is, unless otherwise noted, a vintage postcard of approximately 5 and 1/2, by 3 and 1/2 inches. Postage is for fully insured, first class, shipping in a secure photo mailer (to avoid any damage to your purchase in the mails), and we happily combine shipping on all paper goods. If you purchase two cards, we will refund the postage on the second card, and when you purchase three or more cards from us at the same time, your shipping will be entirely free, except for international orders which, because of increases in international shipping rates will still be charged one card's shipping fees on orders of three or more. We do not charge for insurance or shipping materials, and as of the date of this listing are still charging below our overall cost on shipping.
