Drina Verchesi, Risque Vintage Postcard by Tucks, circa 1910s by redpoulaine

What looks to us like a press print, rather than an actual photo of the lovely and alluring Miss Drina Verchesi. Miss Verchesi was one of the big postcard queens of England during the 1910s. Outside of that, we know very little about her. We've found notices of her appearance in a few theatrical productions during the war years (WWI), but they appear to have been small roles, down at the bottom of the cast list, and we haven't yet located any reviews.

With the name Drina Verchesi, we imagine her as a war refugee from Italy, finding herself in London and struggling as a model and actress there, then finding great success, but that's just our usual romantic imagining. For all we know she was English through and through, though of Italian parentage. One thing we will say is that her images are very much collected and that we rarely see her in quite so risque a postcard. This card will undoubtedly make some collector very happy. If you know anything of Miss Verchesi's history, please let us know. We'd love to hear from you.

A lovely card. Please examine our high res scans for detail.

The item you are considering for purchase is, unless otherwise noted, a vintage postcard of approximately 5 and 1/2, by 3 and 1/2 inches. Postage is for fully-insured, first class shipping in a secure photo mailer (to avoid any damage to your purchase in the mails), and we happily combine shipping on all paper goods. If you purchase two cards, we will not charge for postage on the second card, and when you purchase three or more cards from us at the same time, your shipping will be entirely free, except for international orders which, because of increases in international shipping rates will still be charged one card's shipping fees on orders of three or more. We do not charge for insurance or shipping materials, and as of the date of this listing are still charging below our overall cost on shipping.
