The Disagreeable Man
If you give me your attention, I will tell you what I am:
I'm a genuine philanthropist - all other kinds are sham.
Each little fault of temper and each social defect
In my erring fellow-creatures, I endeavour to correct.
To all their little weaknesses I open people's eyes,
And little plans to snub the self-sufficient I devise;
I love my fellow-creatures - I do all the good I can -
Yet everybody says I'm such a disagreeable man!
And I can't think why!
--William Gilbert
Those lines are from a wonderful song in Gilbert and Sullivan's "Princess Ida" and seemed to fit this fellow to a T :)
Just a wonderfully expressive portrait of an unidentified stage actor, made at the Alb. Rudolf studio in Frankfurt, Germany, we're guessing sometime in the 1920s.
A very nice, unposted, theatrical RPPC.

If you purchase two cards, we will refund the postage on the second card, and when you purchase three or more cards from us at the same time, your shipping will be entirely free, except for international orders which, because of sudden increases in international shipping rates will still be charged one card's shipping fees on orders of three or more.
