Le Baiser, The Kiss! Lot of 2 Wonderful Couples Romance Cards circa 1910 by redpoulaine

A couple of lovely kissy cards :) Beautiful condition and beautifully hand-tinted cards, two out of a series of probably six. One thing we find particularly interesting about these two cards is the fact that they were printed for and sold on the French market (Note the text, "Le Baiser," rather than "der Kuss") but were definitely German cards. The woman's hair style and costume are so very Germany, circa 1910s, and on the obverse, along with that wonderfully teeny-tiny script (in French) we see the triangular logo of the N.B.C., the Neue Photographische Gesellschaft, an organization designed to maintain quality and cost control in the production of photo image postcards.

Then, for a touch of irony, the long messages written on the backs of these cards seem to be dated 1915, right in the midst of WWI. French postcard distributors were definitely not doing business with German postcard printers after 1914, when the war began, so our cards were probably printed sometime closer to 1910. But even in the midst of that terrible war, the French person who sent these cards (in a standard letter envelope, since we have no stamps or postal markings) didn't care a bit that the romantic couple pictured were recognizably German. We can hear Sam singing even now:

You must remember this
A kiss is just a kiss
A sigh is just a sigh
The fundamental things apply
As time goes by...

Lot of two cards in very nice condition. Please examine our high res scans for detail.

The item you are considering for purchase is, unless otherwise noted, a vintage postcard of approximately 5 and 1/2, by 3 and 1/2 inches. Postage is for fully-insured, first class shipping in a secure photo mailer (to avoid any damage to your purchase in the mails), and we happily combine shipping on all paper goods. If you purchase two cards, we will not charge for postage on the second card, and when you purchase three or more cards from us at the same time, your shipping will be entirely free, except for international orders which, because of increases in international shipping rates will still be charged one card's shipping fees on orders of three or more. We do not charge for shipping materials, and as of the date of this listing are still charging below our overall cost on shipping.
