Cute marsh maiden image. There were a lot of these floating around in the early 1900s...not so much "marsh maidens" per se, no (haha)...but outdoor bathing images! If you think about it, indoor plumbing was very much a luxury in those days and in the countryside particularly, much of the bathing, not just recreational splashing, was accomplished in local wells, springs, lakes, rivers, etc.
Lovely image by Henry (Heinrich) Traut of Munich, Germany, circa 1905/10. Interesting to see the French card back on this one. Though it was almost certainly printed in Germany, it was printed for distribution in France. That isn't at all uncommon in general, just that we haven't seen a Henry Traut card printed for France before.
