Mlle. Lise Fleuron was one of the most beloved performers of la Belle Epoque. This card's image (a lithograph?) was made after one of a series of photographs by Léopold-Émile Reutlinger of Paris though we don't see him credited in the image. Interesting thing about her costume, you can see a photo from the series by Reutlinger in listing image #3 (not for sale) and in listing image #4 (also not for sale) you can see the same costume in another photograph by Reutlinger, but for that image the model was Mlle. Emiliénne D'Alencon, another much loved, and today better known, entertainer of the period. So jeez, we're going to guess this costume may have been a property in Monsieur Reutlinger's Studio and wonder if it was produced in France or if it was tribal finery from Algiers or Morocco and which of those two ladies were first photographed wearing it and how they felt about that. Yep, this is exactly the sort of fluff we at Red Poulaine fill our heads with :)
Anyway, a wonderful card, very evocative of the period and posted in Belgium in what looks like might have been 1903. Please examine our high res scans for details.
