Beautiful example of a Henry Traut postcard! Over the years we've become big fans of Herr Traut's work. This one is unsigned but recognizable by style and tone and the throne our aristocratic lady sits upon (a prop he used often). Herr Traut, a Jugendstil era photographer and inventor who worked out of Munich, Germany, seems to have been fond of sharp angles, of contrasting the softness of his women models with hard, inflexible surfaces (like the pictured throne) and often his postcards' photographic images were decoratively, and loudly, framed, like this one. The effect is busy and more than a little weird, we think. It took us a while to warm to these postcards of his but they were certainly popular in his day and have become some of our very favorites!

The item you are considering for purchase is, unless otherwise noted, a vintage postcard of approximately 5 and 1/2, by 3 and 1/2 inches. Postage is for fully-insured, first class shipping in a secure photo mailer (to avoid any damage to your purchase in the mails), and we happily combine shipping on all paper goods. If you purchase two cards, we will not charge for postage on the second card, and when you purchase three or more cards from us at the same time, your shipping will be entirely free, except for international orders which, because of increases in international shipping rates will still be charged one card's shipping fees on orders of three or more.
