A classic offering by P-C Paris (Papetery de Levallois Clichy). When it comes to French risque photo postcards of the 1910s and 20s, The Agelou brothers, Jean and George, with their very recognizable style, probably come to my mind first, then J. Mandel, with his deep chocolate backgrounds and velvety textures. But they feel solidly anchored in the 1910s, even though Mandel certainly worked into the '30s. For the 1920's though, for images that seem to capture the mad rush of the jazz age and the glitter of the silver screen, it would have to be P-C Paris. Certainly, they were a bigger company and their risque series feel, at least to me, flashier, but well, that's how the '20's feel, looking back at an imagined Paris from the perspective of today.
This card is one out of a very sought after series. The model is truly beautiful and the image captures the feel of those "Oriental" romances that were so popular on the big screen at that time, while underneath, it still hints at the frenetic brightness of the jazz age. A beautiful card in really wonderful condition.
