The date we offer is only an approximate. We haven't yet found any history on the photographer, a Mr. Felix Ragno of Athens, who is listed on the card as "Opticien." This is the French for optician, and this is a fascinating point, given that in the early days of photography, opticians were consulted about the grinding of glass lenses for cameras. Was Mr. Ragno, an optician who was also a photographer? Certainly the resolution and contrast in this print are gorgeous.
