This is not a postcard. It is a photograph measuring approx. 4 by 6 inches.
During the Great Depression in the U.S., if you lived in a small town, or rural community (and most folks did), There were few exciting things that came your way, and certainly none of them resembled the new release of a top-rated video game by a favorite developer, unless you want to count the Captain Marvel decoder ring :) Every now and then a barnstormer flew in on his rickety biplane, landed in a farmer's field, maybe did a loop-de-loop for a small crowd of onlookers on Sunday afternoon, and offered short plane rides at a dime apiece. Traveling circuses (small ones), and carnivals, made occasional stops, and of course, the traveling Evangelical tent show!
Our Betty Jane may well have played on her banjo in just such a one, and what a charmer she was :)
Truly a wonderful example of depression era Americana, and in excellent condition.
Follow the link below to see a clip from the great movie, "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?" to help get you "in the spirit. " It's not exactly a "tent show," but we thought we'd throw it in, just because we really LOVE this movie :)
