No info on the lovely Senorita Gonzales. Brilliantly hand colored French postcard by Leopold Reutlinger. We've found that the coloration of cards produced using the Emaillography printing or finishing method (mentioned in the text on the obverse of the card) is often particularly vibrant! This was a method also frequently used in the printing of images by Professor Edward Stebbing, another famous celebrity photographer of Paris. The Emaillography appears to have been exclusive to "Etoile" (or Star) publishers. Apart from a vibrancy of coloration in tinted images, Emaillographies we've encountered are particularly glossy in finish and seem to have shared both of these characteristics with the Oranotype method used by N.P.G. of Berlin. It's also worth mentioning that Leopold Reutlinger had a very close relationship with N.P.G. and that many of his images published in a relatively matte finish in France would also appear in the glossy Oranotype version by N.P.G.
Okay, enough of this postcard geek musing, but if anyone out there has any detailed info on either of these processes, we'd love to hear from you!
