Lovely nude. The flowers at her temples are a beautiful touch and the rows of curls are amazing! Card was signed GA for George Agelou, the less well known brother of Jean Agelou, Parisian photographer who is today practically notorious for his risque and erotic postcard images of the early 1900s. Born in Alexandria Egypt to French parents circa 1880, the brothers were active as photographers in France from at least the early 1900s.
Both the Agelous produced "legitimate" work as well, and though we've read in a few places that George was not himself the photographer, but only handled the business end of their partnership, we've come across plenty of cards with the identifying logo "G A Paris" and also a few marked Cliché George Agelou which suggest that George took a more active role than is sometimes supposed, even striking out on his own for a time.
George Agelou and his brother Jean were both killed in an automobile accident in 1921.
Lovely card in very nice condition. Please examine our high res scans for detail.
